Environmental and Social Responsibilities

Global society is facing a monumental climate change crisis entirely of its own making. We must all recognise that we are in part responsible and that we all have to do more and do it quicker.

At Inventoire, we are committed to reduce our total emissions in line with the science. At the same time we will offset the emissions from our operations whilst we work to continuously reduce them.

How Inventoire is seeking to balance its carbon impact with Earthly

As a small business just starting out on our journey, we understand that whilst we're doing everything we can to minimise our impact, we must acknowledge there is a footprint and we can always do more to support the environment, the people within our services supply chain and the communities around the world who need it most.

Since our inception in 2022, we've made it our mission to be the change we want to see in the inventory industry by championing climate change.

From an environmental level, every journey we make we look to ensure this is minimised through planing, scheduling, the use of carbon friendly transport and the removal of stationery items that can be replaced with innovative technology ensuring we have zero waste.

This is what sustainability means to us.

PLANTING TREES

There are two additional ways we are looking to minimise our impact. Instead of maximising profit margins by participating in sales tactics like Black Friday, we instead put our profit to good use by planting trees with every order, every day of the week.

After all, the world needs more trees, yet the current rate of deforestation means we're losing a football pitch-sized area of forest every six seconds.

Working with Earthly, two trees are planted in Kenya with every order, an island that has experienced deforestation on an enormous scale with only 10% of its original forest remaining today.

Approximately 75% of species found in Kenya are not found anywhere else in the world, making it even more important to protect what is left and help to reforest areas that have been destroyed.

Trees are important for the climate crisis because estimates suggest that they sequester carbon at a rate of 2 – 4 times more than mature tropical forests. Each tree removes around 308kg of CO2 from the atmosphere over the course of its life-cycle (approximately 25 years).

A CARBON POSITIVE TEAM

We are also very proud to say that we are a carbon positive team, meaning we off-set (displace) the carbon produced as individuals within the team as a direct response to known carbon dioxide emissions.

Today, atmospheric CO2 sits at 410 parts per million, a higher level than at any point in more than 3 million years. And humans are injecting more CO2 into the atmosphere at one of the fastest rates ever.

A carbon offset broadly speaking is a greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction or removal to compensate for CO2 emissions emitted elsewhere. It is a “measurable, quantifiable and trackable unit of greenhouse gas emissions reductions”.

We believe this is the very leasts brands should be doing in 2022, and have further plans up our sleeve to reveal as we grow. There is a lot more to be done, and we are ready and eager to rise to the challenge.
